How do I close period?

Use Close Period to stop entering transactions in the current period and start entering transactions in the next period.

 

Step 1: Back up the database

Before proceeding, back up the current files. Always make a back up of the database BEFORE running routines that modify or delete transactions. See the help topic titled How do I back up a database?

Step 2: Close period

Close the current period to prevent users from entering, modifying, or deleting transaction in the closed period.

Do this...

1. Open Connect Property Tax Collection > Organization > Close Period.

2. Select the routine properties.

Current period begin date

Current period end date

New period begin date

New period end date

New interest rate

 

3. Click GO (CTRL+G).

The period is closed.

Current period begin date

Shows the start date for the current period. This is the period that will be closed. To adjust the current period, go to Organization > Organization and use the Current Period field to enter the correct date range.  

Current period end date

Shows the end date for the current period. This is the period that will be closed. To adjust the current period, go to Organization > Organization and use the Current Period field to enter the correct date range.

New interest rate

The interest rate is a charge for borrowed money.

Do you want to use the interest rate for the current period as the interest rate for the new period?

  • Yes, I want to continue to use the current interest rate. Continue to the next step.

  • No, I need to enter a different a interest rate. Click on the New Interest Rate field, and type in the interest rate. Key the decimal. Example: If the interest rate is 1.25%,  then type in 0.0125   

New period begin date

The New Period Begin Date is the date the system start the new period. Enter the start date for the new date range.  

New period end date

The New Period End Date is the date the system close the new period.  Enter the end date for the new date range.
