Create Meter Reading File

A meter reading file is a digital file that contains recorded consumption data from utlity meters (such as electricity, water, or gas meters). This file is used for billing, monitoring usage, and analyzing consumption patterns.

A meter reading file includes:

  • Meter number and ID. Identifies the specific meter.

  • Reading date and time. Timestamp of when the reading was recorded.

  • Consumption data. Usage data for electricity (kilowatt-hours), gas (cubic feet), and water (gallons).

  • Meter status. Flags for any issues, for example, tampering, outages, or errors.

  • Unit of measurement. The unit in which consumption is measured.

  • Previous and current readings. To calculate the total consumption over a period.
