Why is my employee's timesheet being assigned to the wrong approval process?

An employee is submitting a timesheet, but the timesheet is being assigned to the wrong approval process. What do I need to change to route the timesheet to the right approval process?
Explanation
In order of priority, Connect will assign the employee's timesheet to the approval process (1) assigned directly to the employee, (2) assigned to the department the employee is assigned to in Payroll, and finally (3) assigned to the department the employee is assigned to in Human Resources.
Solution
You'll want to check each level (in the employee's record, the Payroll department, and the HR department) to determine if the employee's timesheet is being misdirected to the wrong approval process. If you want to assign an employee's timesheet to the department the employee is assigned to in Payroll, you cannot assign the employee's timesheet to an approval process in the employee's record. The reason is the approval process in the employee's record overrides the approval process in the Payroll department.
