How do I record an investment redemption?

Redeem an investment.

There are two types of investment redemption: Automatic and Manual. Use Automatic Redemption to prompt the system to process the redemption on the investment for you. Use Manual Redemption to require a user to run the routine to Enter Investment Redemptions.

Accept This Screen/Accept All

Use Accept This Screen to change all of the checkboxes on the current screen to the default setting. Use Accept All to change all of the checkboxes to the default setting. Use the Default field to select the default setting. You can choose Automatic, Manual, or No.

 

Agency numbers

The agency number is a unique number that is assigned to an investment agency. Use Agency Numbers to filter the agencies that will be displayed in the transaction grid.

What do you want to do?

  • I want to show all agencies. Click Options (F12). Then, click Values. Use the Values form to click All.

  • I want to select the agencies to display in the transaction grid. Click Options (F12). Then, click Values. Use the Values form to enter an agency number or range of agency numbers.

 

Created by

Use created by to select a user ID. The user will be listed as the user that created the transactions for investment redemptions.  

 

Default

Use Default to select the default setting for Accept This Screen and Accept All. You have three choices: Automatic, Manual, or No. Use Automatic to redeem the investment automatically; the system redeems the investment on the call date. Use Manual to indicate the investment will be redeemed by a user. Use No to show the investment will not be redeemed.

What is the default setting for Accept This Screen/Accept All?

  • Set the default to automatically redeem investments. Select Automatic as the Default.

  • Set the default to manually redeem investments. Select Manual as the Default.

  • Set the default to not redeem investments. Select No as the Default.

 

Days before maturity

The call date is the earliest date on which an investment is mature and may be redeemed. Use Days Before Maturity to display a warning on the screen to show the user the investment is mature.

What do you want to do?

  • Show investments without regard to the Days Before Maturity. Use Days Before Maturity to enter All.

  • Show only investments x days before maturity. Use Days Before Maturity to enter a number. The routine will filter investments with a Days Before Maturity setting that is equal to the value in this field.

 

Manual Investment Redemption

The Manual Investment Redemption form displays when you are redeeming an investment and the Redeem field is Manual. Use this form to enter the purchase, interest, and redemption amounts.

Is the redemption date correct?

  • Yes, use the current date as the redemption date. Continue to the next step.

  • No, use a different date as the redemption date. Use the Redemption Date field to enter a different MM/DD/YYYY. The system will use this date as the transaction date.

Is the redemption amount correct?

  • Yes, the redemption amount is correct. Continue to the next step.

  • No, the redemption amount is not correct. Use the Redemption Amount field to enter the amount the investment is being redeemed for.

Now, scan the purchase, interest, and redemption amounts and GL accounts. Is the information correct?

  • Yes, the information is correct. Continue to the next step.

  • No, the information is not correct. Use the Manual Investment Redemption form to update the incorrect information.

Does the proof equal zero (0)?

  • Yes, the proof equals zero (0). Click OK to save the entry.

  • No, the proof does not equal zero (0). Check the amounts in the Redemption Amount, Interest Amount, and Redemption Cost. Use the following formula to update the amounts. You cannot save the entry until the proof is zero (0). Proof = Redemption Amount – Purchase Amount – Interest Amount – Redemption Cost

 

Order by

You can decide how to display information in the transaction grid. Use Order By to select the method for arranging data.

How do you want to order data in the transaction grid?

  • Order data by maturity date. Click Options (F12). Then, click Maturity Date.

  • Order data by agency number. Click Options (F12). Then, click Agency Number.

 

Period

A period is a portion of time, usually equal to a calendar month.

In which period do you want to create transactions for redeemed investments?

  • Use the default period. The Period field displays the current open period.

  • Let me select the period. Use the Period drop-down list to select an open period.

 

Proof

The proof displays on the Manual Redemption form. The proof should equal zero (0).

Is the proof equal to zero (0)?

  • Yes, the proof is zero(0). Click GO (CTRL+G) to continue.

  • No, the proof is not zero (0). Fix the values on the form. The proof must equal zero before you can continue.

 

Redeemed date

The Redeemed Date is the date the system will use to record the transaction.

 

Transaction grid

The transaction grid displays the transactions that have been created during the current session.
