A property notice is issued by a local government or municipality. It serves to inform property owners, residents, or stakeholders about specific actions, regulations, or changes affecting the property. 

Common types of property notices:

  • Zoning and land use notices. Alerts about zoning changes, variances, or land use planning decisions that could impact the property. 

  • Code violation notices. Issue when a property fails to comply with building codes, maintenance standards, or safety regulations. Example: overgrown lawns, structural hazards

  • Tax and assessment notices. Includes property tax assessments, reassessments, or delinquency warnings.

  • Public hearing notices. Informs property owners about upcoming hearings related to developments, rezoning, or community projects that may impact their land. 

  • Eminent domain or condemnation notices. Issued when a government intends to acquire a property for public use, such as road expansions or infrastructure projects. 

  • Foreclosure or lien notices. Alerts about unpaid taxes, utility bills, or HOA fees that may result in a lien or foreclosure on the property. 

  • Development or construction notices. Notifies residents about upcoming construction projects, roadwork, or infrastructure improvements in their area.
