Error: Invalid general ledger accounts

Checkout, Recalculate

Issue

Invalid account numbers have been incorrectly stored as a formatted number, are missing, or include non-numeric values.

Explanation

Each general ledger account type has a mask to format the account. If the numbers in the account do not match the account mask, the general ledger account is invalid. An invalid general ledger account may mean the account is missing a number (0-9), includes letters (A-Z) or symbols ($#(*&$), or the general ledger account is blank or null.

An invalid general ledger account may cause a transaction to print in the wrong place in a report, cause a report to calculate the wrong amount, or show the wrong balance on a statement.

Solution

To fix the error,

  • use the error report to look up the transaction, and then update the general ledger account to a valid general ledger account number. The section header in this section of the error report will also show you where the invalid account is located, so you will know where you need to go to fix the error. For example, there may be an invalid account in a credit memo, invoice, write-off, organization, billing code, category, customer recurring invoice, or recurring billing. Use the section header in the error report to find out where you should look for the invalid account.
