When do I need to create a form?

You will need a form layout when you run a report that prints a form.

Yes, you can create a form layout to print on plain paper or pre-printed stock.

When should I create a new form instead of using an old form?

A new form is a completely empty form layout to "start from scratch." While an existing form has variables, content, and layout. If you need to create a form layout that shares similar attributes with an existing form, it may be faster to open the existing form and save it as a new form than starting from scratch.

How do I use a form in a batch report?

If you want to use a form in a batch report, create the form, add it as the default form layout on a report, and then add the report that uses the form layout to the batch report.
